Licenced Ministries Manual
One of the purposes of this manual is to aid baptized persons who wish to serve in one of specific ministries requiring a license to discern and describe their ministry, in prayerful collaboration with their clergy.
Marriage: Request for Consultation and Consent Form
Ordination Manual
Part of our responsibility as a Church body is to call people forth to work for the good of God’s people and all creation. While every person within the body of Christ is called to ministry of some kind, this manual is the guidebook for those discerning a call to the ordained ministry and those who support and direct them. It outlines the many steps, people and groups that are part of this particular discernment process that begins in a person’s local congregation.
Non-Parochial Clergy Annual
Non-parochial Episcopal priests and deacons who live in Western Oregon are required by canon to report in to Bishop Michael Hanley at the end of each year. Non-parochial clergy are those who do not serve in a parish or mission, or are 72 years of age or older, or are retired from active service, or reside in or are officiating in another diocese, or are canonically resident in another diocese. This form makes it easy to comply and gives these clergy a chance to inform the bishop of the ministry they have done over the past year and update him on significant life events. Yearly deadline for completion of this form is December 31st.
Policies and Procedures Manual
This manual is intended to serve as a resource to all congregations in the Diocese of Oregon. Its contents combine guidelines, procedures, best practices and Diocesan policies, all offered to congregations as helpful sources of information on a wide range of church matters.
One goal of this manual is to maintain a level of administrative consistency in congregational practices across the Diocese. It is also recognized that congregations have unique needs and cultures. When an individual congregation experiences a specific need different from or unaddressed in this manual, a draft of the intended procedure or guideline should be forwarded to the Bishop's Office for review. The Bishop then has the option of forwarding the proposed procedure or guideline to the Diocesan Personnel Committee for possible inclusion in this manual. In this manner operational best practices can be communicated across the Diocese.
Process for Discerning Baptismal Ministry
The Process of Discerning Baptismal Ministry is designed as a flow chart to indicate the dynamic process baptized Christians experience as they discern and identify their call, enter into formation, and develop their ministry within the community of faith, the Church. This is an ongoing, life-long process during which each person grows in and through their ministry or ministries, often moving into new challenges and opportunities.
About This Site:
We hope this site provides helpful information and easy access to the various ministries of the people of the diocese. Episcopalians believe in the inclusion of all in the life and ministry of the Church as we have received it from Jesus Christ.
