Devotional Resources

The Episcopal Church in Western Oregon prays regularly for our brothers and sisters throughout the world.  Here are some of the resources we use at in the chapel at The Close when the staff gathers every week day at 9:00 AM for Morning Prayer or Wednesday Holy Eucharist.  All are welcome to come and join us.

Please contact the Bishop's office with additional devotional resources that would be beneficial.

Revised Common Lectionary

The Revised Common Lectionary is a lectionary of readings or pericopes from the Bible for use in Christian worship, making provision for the liturgical year with its pattern of observances of festivals and seasons.

Forward Movement

Forward Movement, an official, non-profit agency of the Episcopal Church, grew out of the determination of the General Convention in 1934 to counter a period of anxiety, distrust, and decline in the Episcopal Church with a “forward movement” charged to “reinvigorate" the life of the church and to rehabilitate its general, diocesan, and parochial work.

Lenten Resources

2011 Lenten Studies and Meditations

In addition to the resources provided by the Church, many others around the country have created their own fantastic collections for the Lenten season.

Brothers of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist
An online conversation with the Brothers of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist, discussing their experience and practice of living out their Rule of Life.

Each day they post a short commentary, with a Brother or two offering his unique perspective on the document which shapes and forms prayer and practice more than any other apart from Scripture and The Book of Common Prayer.

About This Site:

We hope this site provides helpful information and easy access to the various ministries of the people of the diocese. Episcopalians believe in the inclusion of all in the life and ministry of the Church as we have received it from Jesus Christ.

Our Purpose:

We believe we are called to praise the living and triune God in worship, to live out lives of love and charity toward the world, and to spread the good news of the Gospel to a world hungry for God.
